Given :-

The sum of two rational numbers 4/5 if one numbers is 2/15

To Find :-

Other number

Solution :-

Let the other number be x

x + 2/15 = 4/5

x = 4/5 - 2/15

x = 12 - 2/15

x = 10/15

x = 2/3

∴ Other number is 2/3

  • the sum of two rational numbers 4/5
  • one number is 2/15

  • find the other rational number

given data sum of two rational numbers be 4/5 and one rational number be 2/15 .let the other rational number be x

from question we get

\longmapsto\sf  \qquad\: x +  \dfrac{2}{15}  =  \dfrac{4}{5}  \\  \\  \\  \\ \longmapsto\sf  \qquad\:x =  \frac{4}{5}  -  \frac{2}{15}  \\  \\  \\

now we take LCM of denominator

  • LCM of 5 and 15 = 15

\longmapsto\sf  \qquad\:x =  \frac{4 \times 3}{5 \times 3}  -  \frac{2 \times 1}{15 \times 1}  \\  \\  \\ \longmapsto\sf  \qquad\:x =  \frac{12}{15}  -  \frac{2}{15}  \\  \\  \\ \longmapsto\sf  \qquad\:x =  \frac{12 - 2}{15}  \\  \\  \\ \longmapsto\sf  \qquad\:x =  \cancel \frac{{10} ^{2} }{15 _{3}}  \\  \\  \\ \longmapsto\sf  \qquad\: \red{ \boxed{  \underline{\frak{x =  \frac{2}{3} }}}}
