let the second rational number be x

5/6 + x = -1/2

x=-1/2-5/6

x= -3-5/6

x=-8/6

x=-4/3

\huge\italic\red {here is your answer}

let the one number is x

\huge\italic\red {-1/2 + x = 5/6}

x = 5/6 -(-1/2)

then take the lcm of 6 and 2 and the lcm of 6 and 2 is 6

x = 5/6 -(-3/6)

x = 5+3/6

x = 8/6

when we divide 8/6 = 4/3
