Given:

Sum of two rational numbers\[ = - \frac{1}{3}\]

Value of 1st number=\[\frac{4}{5}\]

Solution:

Assume that the other number is x.

Find the other number.

Sum of two Number=First number + Second number

\[ \Rightarrow - \frac{1}{3} = \frac{4}{5} + x\]

\[ \Rightarrow x = - \frac{4}{5} - \frac{1}{3}\]

\[ \Rightarrow x = \frac{{ - 4 \times 3 - 1 \times 5}}{{15}}\]

\[ \Rightarrow x = \frac{{ - 12 - 5}}{{15}}\]

\[ \Rightarrow x = - \frac{{17}}{{15}}\]

Hence, the other number is \[ \ - \frac{{17}}{{15}}\].
