GIVEN :

  • Sum of two rational number is 1
  • one of the two number is \sf{\frac{5}{20}}.

TO FIND :

  • Other number

SOLUTION :

Let another number be x.

\sf\mapsto{x+ \dfrac{5}{20}=1}

\sf\mapsto{x\:=\:1\:-\:\dfrac{5}{20}}

\sf\mapsto{x\:=\:\dfrac{20-5}{20}=\dfrac{\cancel{15}}{\cancel{20}}=\dfrac{3}{4}}

\sf\implies{Another\:number\:is\:\dfrac{3}{4}}

Answer :

  • Other number is 3/4

Given :

  • The sum of two rational numbers is 1
  • One of the numbers is 5/20

To find :

  • Other number

Solution :

Method : (1)

Given that,

The sum of two rational numbers is 1 and one of the numbers is 5/20 then,

  • Let the other number be x

According To Question,

x + 5/20 = 1

》x + 1/4 = 1

》x = 1 - 1/4

Cross multiplying we get,

》x = 4 - 1 / 4

》x = 3/4

Hence, Other number is 3/4

Method (2)

》5/20 + x = 1

》x = 1 - 5/20

Cross multiplying

》x = 20 - 5 / 20

》x = 15/20

》x = 3/4

Hence, other number is 3/4
