Answer :

x =  \dfrac{4}{5}

Explanation :

Let one of the rational number be x

According to the question :

=> x + ( \dfrac{ - 14}{5} ) =  - 2

=> x -  \dfrac{14}{5}  =  - 2

=> x =  - 2 +  \dfrac{14}{5}

Taking the L. C. M :

=> x =  \dfrac{ - 10 + 14}{5}

=> x =  \dfrac{4}{5}

Verification :

=>  \frac{4}{5}  + (  \frac{ - 14}{5} ) =  - 2

=>  \dfrac{4 - 14}{5}  =  - 2

=>  \frac{ -1 0}{5}  =  - 2

=>  - 2 =  - 2

Rational number :

A rational number is a number that can be expressed in the form of p/q where "p" and "q" are integers and q ≠ 0

Rational numbers are often denoted by Q.
