question-

The sum of two rational numbers is -7/12. If one of them -13/12 ,find the other ?

solution-

let the other no be x

so, x + -13/12 = -7/12

x = -7/12 - ( -13/12 )

x= -7/12 + 13/12

x = 6/12 = 1/2

therefore , the other no is 1/2

Let the second number be x

‎‎

\sf{According\:to\:question},

\Large{ - { \frac{13}{12}  + x \:  =  -\frac{7}{12} }}

‎‎

Adding \frac{13}{12} to both sides,

{ - \cancel{\dfrac{13}{12}} + \cancel{\dfrac{13}{12}} + x \:  =  - \dfrac{7}{12} + \dfrac{13}{12}}

 \large {x = - \frac{7}{12} + \frac{13}{12}}

\large{ x = \dfrac{-7 + 13}{12}}

\large{x = {\cancel{\dfrac{6}{12}}}}

\Large{\boxed{\red{x = \frac{1}{2}}}}
