according to question

$\frac{1}{x} + \frac{1}{y} = - \frac{3}{7} - - - - (1)$

$\frac{1}{x } = - \frac{5}{8} \\ 8 = - 5x \\ x = - \frac{8}{5} - - - - (2)$

now put the value of x in equation (1)

$- \frac{8}{5} + \frac{1}{y} = \frac{ - 3}{7}$

$\frac{1}{y } = \frac{ - 3}{7} + \frac{8}{5 }$

taking L.C.M

$\frac{1}{y} = \frac{41}{35}$

then

$y = \frac{35}{41}$
