ley the unknown= x

x +  \frac{5}{6}  = 8

x =  8 -  \frac{5}{6}

x =  \frac{48}{6}  -  \frac{5}{6}

x =  \frac{43}{6}

43/6 is the answer

\large\bold\color{red}{Let~the~unknown~number~be~x}

\large\implies\bold{x+{\frac{5}{6}}=8}

\large\implies\bold{x=8-{\frac{5}{6}}}

\large\implies\bold{x={\frac{48-5}{6}}}

\large\implies\bold{x={\underline{\underline{\frac{43}{6}}}}}
