Total weight/weight of boys and girls.

that is, 1480/90=16.444

16.44 average of boys and girls.

That can be most probably 16

or it can be 17.

Answer:

30

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

The weight of students of class = 1480 kg

Let the number of boys = x

The number of girls = y

Given, The average weight of boys = 50 kg

The average weight of girls = 40 kg

Also,

Average=\frac {Sum\ of\ observations}{Number\ of\ observations}

Thus,

50 x = Sum of the weight of boys

40 y = Sum of the weight of girls

Sum of the weight of boys + Sum of the weight of girls = 50 x + 40 y = 1480

Thus,

50 x + 40 y = 1480

Possible values x = 28 , y = 2

Total possible numbers = 30
