The possible number pairs of girls and boys are (4,32) and (28,2)

Solution:

Let the number of boys be "x" and the number of girls be "y"

According to question, the average weight of boys and girls are respectively 50 kg and 40 kg

\text { Average Weight of boys }=\frac{\text { Sum of weight of all boys }}{\text { Total number of boys }}

50=\frac{\text {sum of weight of all boys}}{x}

Sum of weight of all boys = 50x

Similarly for girls,

Sum of weight of all girls = 40y

Also, sum of weight of students of class is 1480 kg

Therefore, 50x + 40y = 1480

So, the possible pairs are (4,32) and (28,2) which can satisfy the above equation
