Given :-

  • Sum of zeros of Polynomial 8x² - kx + 1 is (-1) .

To Find :-

  • Value of k ?

Concept used :-

→ The sum of the roots of the Equation ax² + bx + c = 0 , is given by = (-b/a)

and ,

→ Product of roots of the Equation is given by = c/a.

Solution :-

Comparing we get :-

a = 8

→ b = (-k)

→ c = 1

So,

sum of zeros = (-b/a) = -(-k)/8 = (k/8)

Now, given that, sum is (-1) .

So,

(k/8) = (-1)

→ k = (-8) (Ans).

Hence, value of k will be (-8).
