x-y = 8 ------------------->2

2y = 100

y= 50

x= 58

a + b = 108 (i)
a - b = 8. (ii)

Adding both equations. ....
a + b = 108
a - b = 8
----------------
2a = 116

a = 58.
Putting a = 58 in equation (i), we get
b = 108-58 = 50.

Hence, the two numbers are 58 and 50.
