Rusty is a boy who is none other than Ruskin bond's own twin character. He  lives with his grandparents. He is calm, quiet, sensitive and imaginative boy. He always come across different but extra ordinary situations like he  confronted his grandfather's pet python, he survived a plane crash in Arabian Sea and also escaped from enemy's place. However, He was very much connected with Dehra because major portion of his stories include hills and valleys of this district.
