The sums of n terms of two arithmetic progressions are in the ratio 5n + 4: 9n + 6. Find the ratio of their 18th terms.

kvnmurty: in some question one easy short cut was found like that.. for finding 13th term say n=25...like that.
kvnmurty: Because in the ratio on LHS we have 2a+(n-1)d. Divide by 2 in the numerator & denominator. . u get a+(n-1)/2 ×d.... so for getting ratio of 5th terms., (n-1)÷2 = 4. So n=9.
