The sun is a star and we get heat and light from its why don't we get heat and light from the other star in the sky​

It is because stars (other than sun) are very, very far away from us and the energy generated from them is lost in surrounding via absorption in the surrounding medium. but we can see light emitted by stars unless there is some blocking medium in between such as dust clouds.
