Because time in India is shown by the central longitude 82°30` E is taken as standard meridian which passes near Allahabad. This is the reference of Indian standard time [IST] and this is 5 1/2 hours ahead of Greenwich time [GMT].

1. The sun rises two hours earlier in Arunachal pradesh as compared to Gujarat in the West. But the clock show the same time.

2. This happens because for India the central longitude 82°31`E is taken as Standard Meridian which passes near Allahabad.

3. As the standard time has been adapted for the whole country, the watches show the same time both in Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

Additional information:

1.Arunachal Pradeshlies on the easternmost tip of the country and Gujarat lies on the westernmost tip.

2.Both Arunachal pradesh and Gujarat are separated by a distance of 2933 kilometers.
