The supporting wire to the top of a vertical pole is 17 'm long and it is fastened to the ground 8 'm from the foot of the pole. How high is the pole?

If we consider the pole to be upright, then height of the pole can be measured by Pythagoras theorem,

So, height of the pole is = root(17^2-8^2) = 15m
