Ah! You don't need to mug up formulas kiddy.....Just be LAZY like me...! Know how? Here we go......
We know that when we are required to find out the area of a square, which is a 2-D figure with all four sides equal, we just simply square the length of one side say 'X' which on squaring becomes ' X^2'.
Well, now we got a 3-D figure.....
Let's count up the surfaces of a cube. They are 6 in number. So, if we are required to find out the 'Surface Area' you might be wondering of find the area of all the square surfaces ,i.e, x^2 and then add them up together. It might be correct, but, as I said before we'd be lazy through out the sum, we will just multiply the area of one square surface by 6. So the formula becomes 6x^2.
Here we have a cube with a side of 27 cm.
So using the formula, (here, x=27 cm)
6*(27)^2= 6* 729 = 4374 cm^2
Hope I helped you to win the battle! :)
