Surface area of rectangular prism= 2(hl + bl+ hb)
According to question
h= 8 feet. l=11 feet B=? Surface area=442 square feet
Put these value in formula we get
442=2(88+11b+8b)
221=(88+19b)
133=19b
& B=133/19
B=7 feet

Width = 7 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Surface area of rectangular prism is 442 ft².
  • Measure of length is 12 feet.
  • Measure of height is 8 feet.

To Find:

  • What is the width of prism ?

Solution: Let the measure of breadth of prism be b feet.

Since, the rectangular prism is in the form of a cuboid so we will use the formula for TSA of cuboid.

TSA of Cuboid = 2(lb + bh + hl)

A/1

  • tsa = 442 sq ft.

\implies{\rm } 2(lb + bh + hl) = 442

\implies{\rm } 2(11 \times b + b \times 8 + 8 \times 11) = 442

\implies{\rm } 2(11b + 8b + 88) = 442

\implies{\rm } 2(19b + 88) = 442

\implies{\rm } 38b + 176 = 442

\implies{\rm } 38b = 442 176

\implies{\rm } 38b = 266

\implies{\rm } b = 266/38

\implies{\rm } b = 7 feet

Hence, the meaure of width of rectangular prism is 7 feet.
