Hi,
1 ) Dimensions of the rectangular
Swimming pool are,
Length = l = 20 m
Breadth = b = 12 m
Area of the pool = l × b
= 20 × 12
= 240 m^2 ------( 1 )
2 ) width of the walk around
the pool = w = 2 m
Dimensions of the new rectangle after walk,
Length = L = l + 2w
L = 20 + 2 × 2
L = 24 m
Breadth = B = b + 2w
B = 12 + 2 × 2
B = 16 m
Area of the new rectangle = 24 m × 16 m
= 384 m^2 ---( 2 )
Surface area of the walk = ( 2 ) - ( 1 )
= 384 - 240
= 144 m^2
I hope this helps you.
