because of contraction and relaxation of oseophagus food moves downwards.

we we take in the chewed food it goes through food pipe ... where appiglottis separates our food from going inside the trachea or the wind pipe...
now ,for the further process it gradually moves (with the help of cilia) in the oesophagus.. ..
then it moves to our stomach .. i where it helps to get mixed with HCl ...
and then small intestine where it gets into small pieces...and then large intestine ... and further moves away from our body through anus...
remember the food takes at leat 3-4 hrs for complete digestion..the more u will chew it will be more helpful for our alimentary canal to digest it...
