kg, spring constant k = 10 Nm' and g = 10 m/s2, find the maximum speed acquired

have two forces

  • on right 7.2×10 = 72N
  • on left kx spring force = 10x

x is distance move by block

these force will be equal to balance each other

10x= 72

therefore

x=7.2 meter

now come to hanging block

this block have

  1. acc of g = 10 m/s2
  2. s= distance travelled
  3. initial velocity = u = 0 m/s
  • v2 = u2 + 2as (formula)
  • v2 = 0+ 2×10 ×7.2
  • v2 = 144
  • v = 12 m/s
