Given :  the distance travelled by a car and the time taken for it.

Time (in hrs) (y)      2      3      y     5

Distance (KM) (x)     90   x   180  225

To Find :  Identify the variation and find the value of x & y.

Solution:

90/2 = 225/5 = 45

Hence Distance ∝  Time

Distance = 45 ( Time)

45 is the constant of variation / Speed  (45 km/hr)

x = 45(3)  = 135 km

180 = 45 y

=> y = 4  hrs

Direct Variation

x = 135 km

y = 4 hrs
