1) Tamil Nadu coast receives rainfall in the winter months due to RETREATING MONSOON winds.
2) These winds blow from north-east to south-west direction and blow from land to sea.
3) These winds catch up moisture while blowing over BAY OF BENGAL.
4) Then the moisture laden winds strikes the hills in the EASTERN GHATS and cause rainfall.
