❤️Arteries begin with the aorta, the large artery leaving the heart. They carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heartto all of the body's tissues.❤️

Aorta is the largest artery in human body being 45cm in length. It emerges from top of left ventricle of heart. During systemic circulation, aorta supplies the whole body with the blood that has been oxygenated by the heart. The very first branches of aorta are coronary arteries. However, It is mostly divided into 4 segments:

Ascending aorta → It is part of aorta that rises up from the left ventricle of the heart emerging from aortic root.

Aortic arch → Aortic arch is portion of aorta that starts after ascending aorta and it bends over the posterior side of heart. It also give rise to several branches which supply different organs e.g arm, neck, brain etc...

Descending aorta or Thoracic aorta → The aortic arch then after bending over the heart runs down in thoracic cavity & is called as descending or thoracic aorta. Different branches emerge from this segment which supply oxygenated to blood to several organs within thoracic cavity e.g esophagus, superior portion of diaphragm, dorsal portion of pericardium etc...

Abdominal aorta → The thoracic aorta when slips down the diaphragm, then this segment of aorta is called as abdominal aorta. Abdominal aorta is about 13cm long and it's branches supply blood to several body parts e.g spinal cord, kidneys and glands i.e adrenal gland etc...

The image below shows aorta with it's several branches:
