the taxi charged in Hyderabad are fixed, along with the charge for the distance covered. for a distance of 10km., the charges paid is rupees 220 . for a journey of 15 km. the charge paid is rupees 310 1.what are the fixed charges and charge per km ? 2.how much does a person have to pay travelling a distance of 25 km?​

Let us take fixed cost as 'x' and variable cost(charges per Km) as 'y'.

Now,  x + 10y = 220 ---- ( 1 )

          x + 15y = 310  ---- ( 2 )

Subtracting  ( 1 ) and ( 2 ),

- 5y = - 90

   y = 18

Substitue y=18 in equation ( 1 ),

 x= 220- 180

x = 40

Answers:

1 a)  Fixed charges , x= Rs. 40

1 b) Charges per Km, y = Rs. 18

2) Charges to be paid for travelling 25 Km= x+25y

                                                                      = 40+(25x18)

                                                                      = 40+ 450

                                                                      = Rs. 490
