Let the additional charge per kilometer be n
Now according to the question
m + (10 – 3) n = 166 since travelling charge for the first 3 km is fixed.
So m + 7n = 166 --------1
Now m + (15 – 3) n = 256 since travelling charge is fixed for first 3 km.
So m + 12 n = 256 -------2
Solving equations 1 and 2 we get
m + 7n = 166
m + 12n = 256
5n = 90
Or n = 18
m + 7n = 166
m + 7(18) = 166
m + 126 = 166
m = 40
Therefore the fixed charge is 40 and charge per km is 18
For travelling a distance of 25 km a person has to pay
so 25 x 18
= 450 + 40
= 490
