Step-by-step explanation:

Given The taxi charges in hyderabad have two components : fixed and per kilometer charge. Upto 3 km you will be charged a certain minimum amount. From there on wards you have to pay additionally for every kilometer travelled. For the first 10 km, the charge paid is 166 rs. For a journey pf 15km the charge paid is 256 rs

  • What are the fixed charges and charge per km?
  • how much does a person have to pay for travelling a distance of 25 km?
  • Let the fixed charge be m
  • Let the additional charge per kilometer be n
  • Now according to the question
  •        m + (10 – 3) n = 166 since travelling charge for the first 3 km is fixed.
  •     So m + 7n = 166 --------1
  • Now m + (15 – 3) n = 256 since travelling charge is fixed for first 3 km.
  •     So m + 12 n = 256 -------2
  • Solving equations 1 and 2 we get
  •          m + 7n = 166
  •          m + 12n = 256
  •                 5n = 90
  •                Or n = 18
  •         m + 7n = 166
  •        m + 7(18) = 166
  •        m + 126 = 166
  •        m = 40
  • Therefore the fixed charge is 40 and charge per km is 18
  • For travelling a distance of 25 km a person has to pay
  •                                                        so 25 x 18
  •                                                           = 450 + 40
  •                                                              = 490
