as the fare for first km is 8 and for next km 5

let us see how we can make an equation
as 5 is same for all subsequent km so
5x+? =y

x=total distance covered
y=total fare

? =3

5x +3= y
5x = y + 3 \\ x = \frac{y + 3}{5} \\ x \: \ \: 2 \: \: \: \: 3 \: \ \: 1\\ y \: \: \: 7 \: \: 12 \: \: 2

⇒ Let the total fare be = y Rs

⇒ Distance covered be = x km

⇒ For first subsequent distance (x - 1) km fare = 5(x - 1)

⇒ y = 8 + 5 (x - 1)

⇒ y = 8 + 5x - 5

⇒ y = 5x + 3

⇒ The coordinates of the following linear equation

1) x = 0, y = 3 (0,3)

2) x = 1, y = 8 (1,8)

3) x = 2, y = 13 (2,13)

4) x = 3, y = 18 (3,18)
