Let the distance travel by taxi is x km

Now we divide the distance x in two part , like starting 1st km and rest distance

the two distances are :- 1 and (x-1)

Now the total fare of taxi is = 10 + 8×(x-1)

= 10 + 8x - 8 => 8x + 2

Now let the total fare of taxi is y

NOW THE LINEAR EQUATION IS

y = 8x + 2

First let the x = 0

after putting the value of x in linear eq we get y = 2

Now after putting x = 1, we get y = 8+ 2 = 10

x = 2 ,. y = 8×2 + 2 = 18
