The taxi fare in a city is as follows: for the first km ,the fare is Rs. 10 and for the subsequent distance, it is Rs. 8 per km . taking the distance covered as y km and total fare as Rs.x ,write a linear equation for this information.

Let the total distance be y km
Now, ATQ
Fare for total distance is RS 10
for the subsequent distance fare is RS 8
So, y= 10+8×(x-1)
y=10+8x-8
or, y= 8x-2
