The taxi fare in a city is as followsFor the first kilometer, the fare is 20 and for the
subsequent distance it is 6 per km. Taking x km As the distance covered andry As the
total fare, write A linear equation for this information and find the tarı fare if it travels 10km.

(A) 6x – y + 14 = 0, Rs. 74
(B) -6x + y + 14 = 0, Rs. 46
(C) 26x – y + 14 = 0, Rs.74
(D) -6x + y - 14 = 0 Rs. 47

Answer:

(A) 6x – y + 14 = 0, Rs. 74

Step-by-step explanation:

Total distance covered= x km

Total Fare = Rs.y

Fare for 1 Km = Rs.20

Fare for rest (x-1)km= Rs.6 (x-1)

 So,

Total Fare = Fare for 1 Km +Fare for rest (x-1)km

           y   =  20 + 6(x-1)

           y   = 20 + 6x - 6

           y   = 6x + 14

  So the equation will be

  6x - y + 14 = 0  (1)

Now, if the distance covered is 10km then

put , x=10 in (1) we get,

6(10) - y + 14 = 0

60 + 14 = y

y = 74
