Moon is just a natural satellite of earth similarly Jupiter has several natural satellites like Europa, Ganymede, Callisto etc. Stars are luminous bodies and they emit light which is generated as a result of nuclear fusion. There are other bodies like quasars, white dwarfs which also emit light. According to a theory the Moon was created from the debris released when a massive asteroid struck the earth. Furthermore the moon has been found to be made up of material which is similar to the earth. So the moon can't be luminous. If the moon had light of its own then why would it wax and wane and why would it have different phases? So the moon has no light of its own rather it only reflects sunlight.

I hope it will help you
