Given,

The highest score in the class is 87

The highest score is equal to twice the lowest mark plus 7

To find,

The lowest score in the class.

Solution,

 Consider,

the lowest score in the class be x marks

According to the question,

                             The highest Score = 2(Lowest Mark) + 7

                                    ⇒ 87 = 2x + 7

                                    ⇒ 2x + 7 = 87

                                    ⇒ 2x = 87 - 7

                                    ⇒ 2x = 80

                                    ⇒ x = 80/2

                                    ⇒ x = 40

Therefore,

the lowest mark in the class is 40.
