Here your answer goes

Step :- 1

let the lowest marks be x

Highest Marks = 86 ( Given )

Lowest Marks = 3x - 7

Step :- 2

According to the Question ,

Highest Marks Obtained by Student in her class is three times the lowest marks

3x - 7 = 86

⇒ 3x = 86 + 7

⇒ 3x = 93

x = \frac{93}{3}

⇒ x = 31

Therefore , the lowest Marks of the class is 31

FuturePoet: Yes @Jack.... It is given in Question that " the highest marks obtained by a student in her class is three times the lowest marks minus seven " it is written in algebraic form as Highest Marks obtained by the Student = 3 * x ( Where x represent lowest Marks of a Student ) So it is 3x - 7

your \: answer
Equation Formed = 3x - 7

Because values of lowest marks = x

So 3x - 7 = 86

3x - 7 = 86

3x = 86 + 7 = 93

x = \frac{93}{3} = 31

Hence lowest marks are 31
