Let the lowest score be x

Given, the student in the class has obtained twice the lowest marks + 7 = 2x + 7

Given, the highest score is 97

According to the question,

2x + 7 = 97

➾ 2x = 97 - 7

➾ 2x = 90

➾ x = \dfrac{90}{2}

➾ x = 45

∴ The lowest marks in the class is 45

Let's check out the solution :-

2x + 7 = 97

By putting the value of x,

➾ 2 × 45 + 7 = 90

➾ 90 + 7 = 97

➾ 97 = 97

∴ LHS = RHS ✔✔

∴ The lowest score is 45
