let the lowest mark be x
so
2x+7=87
2x=87-7
2x=80
x=80÷2
x=40

thus the lowest mark is 40

let the lowest mark be x
so 87 is equal to 2x plus 7
so 2x is equal to 80 minus 7 and is 80
therefore x is equal to 80 divided by 2 and is 40
so the lowest mark is 40
hope it helps
