The telephone bill in a city comprises of a fixed monthly rent with the charges for number of calls made of which 50 calls are free. A family made 250 calls in the month of july and had to pay Rs 360 as the bill, while in the month of August 150 calls were made and the bill was for Rs 280. Find the monthly rent and charge per call. ​

for month july

call charge=(250-50)*x        (50 free calls)

=200x

total cost=200x+y

as given,, 200x+y=360

for month august

call charge=(150-50)*x

=100x

total charge=100x+y

as given, 100x+y=280

subtracting two eqns we get,

100x=80

x=0.8

putting in eqn1

200*0.8+y=360

y=200
