it decrease at a rate of 2 ° C per hour

temperature at midnight = 12 - 12*2 = -12° C

time at 8° C temperature,
12 - 2x = 8
2x = 12 - 8
2x = 4
x = 4/2
x = 2
at 2 pm temperature was 8° C
