The temperature experienced in places like Idukki and Wayanad is lower than that of the neighbouring districts Ernakulam and Kozhikode respectively. Why ?

This phenomenon is called normal lapsrate . The temperature in the troposphere decreases at the rate of 1°C per 165m of altitude .

Idukki and Wayanadu is located in the Western Ghat Zone . As these region have high altitude , the temperature there is low .

Ernakulam and Kozhikode are located in low altitudes . So these districts receive more temperature
