The tens digit in a 2-digit number is 4 more than the digit at the ones place. If the sum of the two digit is 10
find the number

Answer:

let the no. at tens place be X

and the no. at ones place be Y

therefore the no. will be

10x + y

by first condition

X = Y+4

X-Y=4-------(1)

by second condition

X+Y=10----(2)

add eqn (1) and (2)

X-Y+X+Y=4+10

2X = 14

X = 14/2

X = 7

put X=7 in eqn (1)

X-Y=4

7-Y=4

7-4=Y

3=Y

Y=3

therefore the no. is

=10X+Y

=10(7)+3

=70+3

=73
