let the unit digit be x and ten's digit be y where x <y

ATQ,

2x = y

also
10y + x - 18 = 10x + y

=> -9x + 9y = 18

=> -9(x - y) = 18

=> x - y = -2

=> x - 2x = - 2 ( given )

=> - x = - 2

=> x = 2

=> y = 2(2)

=> y = 4

Original Number = 42

Hope this helps
