Given Question :

The tens digit in a two digit number is twice the units digit. If 18 is subtracted from the number the digits are reversed. Find the number?

Solution :

Let the digit in the ten's place be 2x and the digit in the one's place be x.

Then, according to the question

When 18 is subtracted from the original number then the digits got reversed hence,

10(2x) + x - 18 = 10x + 2x

20x + x - 18 = 12x

21x - 18 = 12x

21x - 12x = 18

9x = 18

x = 18/9 = 2.

And, the digit in the tenth place = 2x

= 2×2

= 4

So the required original number is 42.

Given :

  • The tens digit in a two digit number is twice the units digit.

  • 18 is subtracted from the number.

To find :

  • The number =?

Step-by-step explanation :

Let, the one's digit of two digit number be x.

It is Given that :

The tens digit in a two digit number is twice the units digit.

So, Ten's digit of the two digit number = 2x.

According to the question :

➮ 10(2x) + x - 18 = 10(x) + 2x

➮ 20x + x - 18 = 10x + 2x

➮ 20x + x - 10x - 2x = 18

➮ 21x - 12x = 18

➮ 9x = 18

➮ x = 18/9

➮ x = 2

Therefore, We got the value of, x = 2.

Hence,

The one's digit of the two digit number = 2.

Then, the one's digit of the two digit number, 2x = 2 × 2 = 4.

•°• The required number = 42
