Then the two-digit number is 10x + y

Now given: 10x + y + y = 42

                        10x + 2y = 42 -----------2

Substitute the value of x in eqn 2

To get 10 * 4y + 2y = 42

                42y = 42

                    y =  1

Therefore x = 4

The two digit no is 10x + y = 10 * 4 + 1 = 41
