this term is refered as broad casting 
seeds of crops like - wheat, paddy etc. are sown by this method 
it is cheapest and quickest method

The term is BROADCASTING.
It is the traditional method of sowing seeds by hands.
Usually Some types of grasses and legumes are grown by it.
But it has some disadvantages. Seeds may not be sown on proper depths and distances. It will result in wastage and reduced yield.
