the the latitudinal and longitudinal extent of the indian mainland is about 30. despite this facts the east-west extent appears to be smaller than the north-south extent.why?​

→As the longitudinal lines converge on the poles,they are wider near the equator but as we move towards the poles the gap between two longitudinal lines reduces. Thus the longitudinal lines are not equi-distance.

→Whereas the latitudinal lines are parallel and are equi distance from equator to poles.Therefore the north south extent is 30 but the distance covered is 3214 km and the east west extent is also 30 but the distance covered is 2933 km.
