The Nature of bond present in [Ni(Co)₄] is synergistic bond.

  • In  (Ni(Co)₄)  the outer most shell configuration is  3d¹⁰4s⁰
  • The d orbital is completely filled
  • The anti-bonding orbital present in CO is vacant
  • Fully filled d orbital gives electron to anti-bonding orbital
  • Due to this π-bonding strong bond arises between metal and the carbonyl which is known as synergistic bond
