Hardening of arteries is a disorder where arteries become narrowed because fat is deposited inside walls of arteries then becomes hardened by fibrous tissue and calcification.
When plaque grows it narrows lumen of artery thereby reducing both oxygen and blood supply to affected organ.
Plaque severely block the artery causing death of tissue supplied by artery for example a heart attack/stroke.
