Given : The thickness of a science book is 20mm & that of a mathematics book is 28mm

Books of each type are stacked up in two separate piles

To Find :  a. What will be the minimum height of each pile such that both piles are of the same height?

b. Find the number of books in each pile.

Solution:

We need to Find LCM of  20 & 28

20 = 2 *  2 * 5

28 = 2 * 2 * 7

LCM = 2 * 2 * 5 * 7  =  140

140 mm is the minimum height of piles

Book of thickness 20 mm = 140/20 = 7

Book of thickness 28 mm = 140/28 = 5
