The third brightest star in the night sky is known as Rigel Kentaurus or Alpha Centauri

It is the closest star to our sun. It is located at 4.3 light years away from our sun. This star is made up of 3 smaller star known as Alpha centauri A, Alpha centauri B and Alpha centauri C. Alpha centauri A and Alpha centauri B are two dwarf star which rotates around each other and thus make this system the third brightest star in the sky.
