LET THE NUMBER OF DEER IN HERD BE 'x'.

3rd part of x =deer grazing in field.

1/2 of x +5 deer are playing.

4 deer are drinking water.

Number of deer in Herd = (1/3 of x) +  (1/2 of x + 5) + 4

                                     x   = x/3 + (x/2 + 5 )+ 4

                                      x  = x/3  + x/2 + 5 + 4

                                      x  = \frac{x}{3}  +\frac{x}{2} +\frac{5}{1} +\frac{4}{1}

                                      x  = \frac{2x +3x + 5* 6 + 4* 6}{6}

                                      x  = \frac{2x + 3x + 30 + 24}{6}

                                6 * x  = 2x + 3x + 30+ 24

                                     6x = 5x + 54

                              6x - 5x = 54

                                        x = 54

x = number of deer = 54

ANSWER = 54 Deer in Herd

Let us verify -

1/3 of 54 = 18

1/2of 54 + 5 = 27 + 5 = 32

Rest = 4

Total Deer = 18 + 32 + 4

                   = 54
